Ultrasound Technician/Diagnostic Medical Sonographers are specially trained medical professionals who perform gather sonographic data in order to diagnose a variety of conditions and diseases. Ultrasound Technicians perform the procedures ordered by the physician, and record anatomical, pathological, and/or physiological data as well as the sonographic data and other relevant observations made during the procedure. Ultrasound Technicians are also responsible for verifying patient history and health status, communicating with patients and physicians as needed, and consulting with medical professionals on patient results.

At NCE you can train to be an Ultrasound Technician in as few as 18 months! NCE’s Associate of Applied Science (AAS) program provides hands-on training from experienced, professional faculty. Students learn how to correctly operate ultrasound diagnostic equipment, record and analyze findings, select and capture the best images, take measurements, make calculations, and communicate findings to the patient, the doctor, and the rest of the medical team. NCE students also learn human anatomy and physiology in order to distinguish the normal from the abnormal. NCE’s accredited program also includes an 180-hour hands-on externship, allowing students to get practical training in the field, supervised by medical professionals.

Upon completion of the program, NCE graduates are prepared to obtain American Registry of Radiologic Technicians (ARRT) certification.
